A Quick Word About Character Creation

Before you go and get all intimidated keep in mind that nothing is set in stone. Character sheets can and have been altered during play. As long as you discuss it with the staff, it doesn't effect anything that has already occurred in play, and the staff approves, things can be changed. For example: if you have already bragged in character about your genius sister you can't just suddenly not have one. But if you have never mentioned your siblings and now you want to be an only child then it is doable.

We have in the past had people repurpose their skills to fill needs, e.g. giving up sniper skills for piloting skills. Also, if you have ideas about your character you have not fully developed that is fine too. As long as you let the staff know, we can work with you and develop things as we go. For example, your brother is listed as deceased but you may want to have your character find out that he really isn't but you aren't sure. Talk to us about it and we can work it out. Just give us a heads up rather than suddenly springing it on us. You don't have to have every little thing about your character figured out, of course the more you do the easier it will be, but don't look at this and panic because you haven't worked out every little detail.

What is an Alias?

Lots of people seem to be confused about what an alias is so I am going to clarify it for everyone. If your name is Michael and you go by Mike or Mikey, that is not an alias it is a nickname. If your name is Mary but people call you shorty, that is not an alias it is a nickname. If your name is Lincoln John Smith but everyone calls you John, that is not an alias it is a nickname. If your name is Lincoln John Smith and everyone calls you Smitty, that is not an alias it is a nickname. If you told that creepy man that was hitting on you at the bar that your name was Hera queen of the gods when it is really Mary, that is not an alias. Think of an alias as creating a whole other person.

If your dad was abusive and your mother ran away with you when you were five and you both assumed whole new identities with the paperwork to back it up, that is an alias. If you are a spy undercover with a cover identity with all the paperwork to back it up, that is an alias. Witness protection creates alias. Alias’ have paperwork, legitimate or forged to support who you are. You assume a whole new identity, a new birthday, birthplace, history, etc. and have some sort of paperwork that says you are this person. THAT is an alias. Anything less than that is a nickname or in some cases a code name or an assumed name. Spies have code names, military personnel can have code names, assassins sometimes have code names.

Character Sheet Template

First Name:
Last Name:
Nicknames: (these are names that are not your birth name that people call you. They are different from alias’. E.G. Your name is Michael John Snyder but your friends call you Mike, or John, or Bear. These are nicknames.)
Assumed Names: (these are not nicknames nor are they true alias’. They are names you use when dealing with shady individuals or people you don’t want to know your real name but unlike an alias there is no paperwork to back it up. They are names that you have assumed to deal with certain people. E.G. Your name is Elizabeth Sanders but the Tongs know you as Lilith, that is the name you give them whenever you contract with them but you don’t have an ident card or any paperwork to back up the name, then again, it’s not like they ask for that kind of stuff)
Alias': (this is different from nicknames, your name may be Michael but people call you Mike, Mike is a nickname not an alias', an alias' is an identity that is created and supported in some capacity by paperwork, E.G. Your name is Sara Jean Gordon but you are on the run from the Alliance so you obtained a fake ident card on the black market with the name Mary Jane Staten and that is the name everyone knows you by, all alias' must have a separate character sheet because they are essentially a separate person) (FYI – telling the creepy guy in the bar that won’t stop bugging you that your name is Taffy when it is really Ashley is neither a nickname nor an alias nor an assumed name. This is what we call a brush off, blow off, or little white lie)
Code Names: (This is for military personnel, spies, assassins, etc. Pilots have code names like Goose, Ice Man, Maverick, etc.)
Stats:
    Height:
    Eye color:
    Hair:
    Age:
POB:(Place of birth, the planet name at least, you can supply the name of the city too if you would like for example: Beylix or Hato, Beylix)
    DOB:(Date of Birth, month/day/year)
Parents:(include mother's maiden name for example: Evangeline (Valentine)Desseau and Devlin Desseau, and whether or not they are deceased. Put the deceased status in brackets, e.g. [deceased])
Siblings: (Names and whether or not they are deceased for example: Alastyr Desseau(Deceased), the deceased status is after the name in parenthesis just as the mother's maiden name is before the married last name in parenthesis)
Physical description (Obvious):(Weapons, Clothing, build, scars, etc.; obvious items like visible scar, eye patch, she always wears a red bandana, she has a revolver strapped to her thigh, etc)
Physical description (Not Obvious): (Weapons, Clothing, build, scars, etc.; the none obvious items like a crescent moon shaped scar on her right buttocks, an old fashioned time piece she carries in her pocket, a small dagger tucked in her boot) Were you in the Military? Yes or No and which one, Alliance or Independents, what year you joined (The Unification War began in 2506 and ended in 2511)
Talents/Flaws/Personality traits:(strengths, weaknesses, Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Passions, Hobbies; This should be balanced, don't have one flaw and a hundred talents. These are three separate sections: Talents aka things you are good at like is good with a pistol, Flaws aka things that make you less than perfect like is addicted to pain killers, Personality Traits aka all the quirky things that make you who you are but aren’t necessarily a talent or a flaw like hates coffee)
History: (Should be a fairly good length. At least, five full paragraphs are recommended. Write as much as you find necessary. Do not worry about not knowing names of planets or locations, just try your best to put them in, and they can be altered if you're off. But include as much as you can.) (Include all things that are necessary, at least enough to justify your skills and strengths if needed. Can be as much as or as little as you wish to include. However if you wish to change or add anything after you've been approved you MUST get it approved by the staff first.)
Aspirations:
Misc.:
Connections:(friends, enemies, acquaintances, etc. At least two from each of the three categories listed here. I don't just want names, they should be filled out like an NPC character would be; name, DOB, POB, military and which side, parents, siblings, nicknames, alias', warrants, physical description, and an explanation of how they are connected to your character.)
Dirty Little Secrets: (Come on, you all know you have them and so does your character. And we both know that you have not listed all the juicy tidbits about your character in the not so brief Character Sheet you have created so far. Many of you are holding them back, waiting to spring them at some unsuspecting moment like a plot twist in a novel, movie, or TV show. Suddenly out of the blue you reveal in a post that your character’s real name is Abbey and she assassinated a member of parliament and now the Alliance bounty hunter that has been looking for her for the last decade has found her while you are in the middle of a job. Dun dun duuuuuunnnnnnn…….

Yeah….so not going to happen and if you try it you will get reamed a new one. I don’t mind plot twists, as a matter of fact I love throwing the unexpected at players. But the staff should not be the ones getting surprised, they should never be surprised. We surprise you not the other way around. So here is where you need to tell us all your dirty little secrets, even if they aren’t fully developed yet, even if they are just in the idea stage and you can only write a sentence or two about them.)
Character Concept: (a brief blurb about your character. It should be anything from a sentence to a paragraph. It should not be longer than a paragraph, hence the words brief and blurb. E.G. Assassin for hire with a personal sense of justice who only kills those she feels deserve to die.)
Avatar Name: (if you have not chosen one yet that is ok, you will need to send that information to the staff once you have selected one.)
RP Sample: (at least a couple of decent paragraphs)
